Articulation:A Reflection of the Position and Method in Indigenous Cultural Studies

本文通过对伯明翰学派的"接合"概念的回顾,探讨当下本土文化研究的立场和方法。本文认为,文化研究是政治性的,但政治性不等同于阶级性。我们不应以阶级的名义束缚文化研究的关注领域。在研究方法上,我们需要用具体动态的现实考察代替空泛静止的理论思辨。研究者只有真正贴近社会现实,深入研究对象的内部,才能形成有效的"问题意识"和"价值立场"。

This paper discusses the position and method in contemporary indigenous cultural studies through a review of the concept of articulation developed by the Birmingham school of cultural studies.The paper argues that cultural studies are a political project,but we can neither reduce its political commitment to class consciousness nor restrict its concerns solely to class issues.In terms of the research method,we need to replace the lofty and sterile theoretic reasoning with a thorough investigation of the concrete social reality.Only when we actively engage with our research objects can we form an acute sense of the problems we face and find an effective way to make value judgments.
