翻译目的论视域中的辜鸿铭《论语》英译本研究

Chinese-English Translation of Publicity Materials of Great The Analysis of Ku's Translation of Lun Yu from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

旨在翻译目的论的框架下评述辜鸿铭《论语》英译本,目的论将"翻译充分"作为评价译文的标准,以此作为出发点,在翻译纲要的指导下,考察译本的预期功能,译入语受众和译本产生的动机等,从而检验辜氏《论语》英译本是否满足其翻译目的,评价其翻译是否充分,研究的启示在于:该译本是符合其翻译目的,翻译充分的译文,辜氏所运用的各种增补、删除和重排的翻译方法是实现其翻译目的的合理手段;在中外文化交流频繁的今天,译者不但要对中国的传统文化体系有深刻和透彻的领悟,而且还应对译入语文化作潜心研究,同时考虑到译本的文本功能,以更适合译入语读者接受和更利于文化传播的方式使得中国的典籍在世界范围内广泛地传播。

This paper aims at analyzing Ku Hung-ming s translation of Lun Yu from the perspective of Skopos Theory,whose principle of assessing translation is adequacy.With translation brief as guidelines,this translation is investigated through the analysis of the intended function of translation,the target addressees as well as the motive.This study bears several implications: firstly Ku s translation is adequate,and the creative translation methods,such as,addition,deletion and reformulation,are justifiable;secondl...
