本刊读者向蒋英老师提出如下几个问题问一:Not having got a reply,I decided towrite again.这个句子中为什么用 Not having,而不用 Not getting?答:Not having got a reply.是现在分词完成式在句中作原因状语,表示这个动作明显先于句中谓语动词 decided 而发生的。若用现在分词一般式 Notgetting,则表示两个动词的动作同时发生了,这不符合句中的含义。问二:She doesn't mind him say bad thingsabout her.和 She doesn't mind his say badthings about her.两句中的 him 和 his 可以换吗?答:不可简单地替换。第一句中用 him 较为口语化,但在你说的第二句中应把 say 改为 saying,因为mind 后要求用 v-ing 形式,即 She doesn't mind hissaying bad things about her。
