In 2005, China was active in putting forward its new diplomatic proposition of "building towards a harmonious world." In a statement made to the UN Summit on September 15, 2005, Chinese President Hu Jintao formally put forward the concept of "harmonious world," which mainly covers such tasks as cultivating a new security concept and mechanism, making the 21st century one of development for all and maintaining cultural diversity and the world's multipolarization.
