ON THE PUBLIC CHALLENGES TO THE CONTEMPORARY CITY SCULPTURE

随着中国城市化进程的加速,越来越多的雕塑作品进入了城市公共空间。但它再也不是艺术家们在工作室的自由创作了。受到诸如城市公共环境、公众审美趣味等多方面公共性因素制约的当代城市雕塑,面临着很多城市公共性问题的挑战。面对这些挑战,雕塑家们不断地进行着新的探索。

With the rapid development of urbanization in China,more and more sculptures have been placed in city public space.The contemporary city sculptures are not created randomly by the sculptors in the studio but affront many challenges due to many aspects of restriction,for instance,the public environment of the city and the public esthetics,facing those challenges,the sculptors are actively exploring new ways of creation.
