After ascent to high altitude, hypobaric hypoxia has a severe adverse effect on human body.As response to hypobaric hypoxia, pulmonary ventilation and blood haemoglobin concentration are elevated, which increases arterial oxygen content and therefore attributes to acclimatization to high altitude. However,Increased arterial oxygen content does not improve decreased maximal exercise performance at altitude, which may be closely related to a decreased oxygen demand in muscle metabolism.
