In the context of religious culture of the West, clothes in the ancient time had their theological orientation transcending the bodily need. In the patriarchal society of ancient China, clothes had their ethical pursuit transcending sensibility. Controlled by the spirit of reason, clothes in both China and the West have gradually abandoned this metaphysical load, and turned to the scientific and functionalist exploration. Under the influence of multiculturalism, the post-modern clothes in both China and the West have in turn abandoned the scientific and functionalist modes and norms and started their brand new experimentation on individualistic taste.
