摘要
本文主要从宗教哲学的角度分析霍桑作品中的清教主义观。17世纪清教主义是构建美利坚民族文化、民族身份的基础,然而美国清教徒的极端主义造成了本体论、认识论上的矛盾危机。本文认为霍桑作品是对清教徒极端主义本体论、认识论危机的拯救。
This paper is an analysis of Hawthorne＇s views on Puritanism from the perspective of religious philosophy. 17^th-century Puritanism was the basis of the American national mythology and .national identity, but Puritan extremism causes the ontological and epistemological crises, which Hawthorne＇s writings attempt to save.
