“Brocade” represents the highest weaving technology in the textile and Shandong brocades are the short term for southwest Shandong folk brocades. They are well known all over the world for their exquisite and primitive elegance and surpassingly beautiful colors. As a rare flower of the folk traditional handicraft in China, Shandong brocades, having undergone ups and downs for over 2000 years, have maintained their romantic charm. They are called Shandong brocades for they are hand made exclusively in Shandong Province. All the weaving tools for Shandong brocades are made of wood and very simple in structure. Manipulated and controlled by the clever hands of the hard-working women, rolls of white cotton are turned into bright and colorful threads and then into more than 1990 kinds of beautiful brocade designs as by magic. The myriads of changes even beat the work of God.
