The Dress Emboidery of the Buyi Nationality

布依妇女最精美的绣品,凝聚着她们对爱情的向往和想象,对未来岁月憧憬和期待,以及为将来当母亲所做的心理和情感上的准备。因此一针一线都是青春的记忆,是家中最珍贵的财富。

The Buyi people prefer to wear gray clothes with embroideries on the upper part of their aprons and the back of their belts. The embroideries are simple, elegant, soft and beautiful. In addition to the embroideries on the aprons, the Buyi people also ornament other items with embroideries, such as bed curtains, mosquito nets, suspenders (for carrying babies on the back) and so on. The finest hand-embroidered articles of the Buyi women are usually those made in the girlhood. The articles show their longing for and imagination of love, their expectation of the future life and their psychological and emotional preparation for motherhood in the future. Today, the scenery of the Buyi village and the merry and open character of the Buyi people remain unchanged, but something is disappearing and people feel a spasm of sadness.
