谈汉译英译文的精炼性

On the Conciseness of the Translation From English to Chinese

翻译的任务是“文化传真”。现代英语日趋精炼简洁,这就要求在汉译英的过程中必须适应这一趋势,使译文尽量简化。具体方法可概括为“去、换、简”等手段。但“精炼”不等于“删减,”而应坚持“内容为先,形式对等”原则。

The task of translation is “Faxing the Culture”. Modem English is getting more and more concise and cleaner and cleaner; which requires the C-E Translation should keep with the trend. Some methods of purifying the translation, including “ cutting, replacing, simplifying” are given in this paper. Meanwhile, purifying doesn＇t mean cutting out freely, and the general principle of “content first, form corresponding” should be obeyed.
