The catalyst SO 2- 4/TiO 2 Al 2O 3 SnO 2 was prepared and its catalytic properties for the synthesis of dioctyl adipate (DOA) under different experimental conditions were studied. The results indicate that the catalyst has splendid catalytic activity, selectivity and reusability for the synthesis of DOA. After the catalyst was put into use for 15 times, no reduction in activity and no carbonization were found. The conversion of adipic acid reached as high as 99% at 160 ̄200℃, and the selectivity for DOA was 98 ̄100%. The results of SEM, XRD and IR analyses show that the catalyst has crystal structure at the surface and behaves as solid superacid.
