“I had a lover's quarrel with the world” is the epitaph that Robert Frost sets for his own tombstone. It is a true picture of Frost's attitude towards life, and it shows the paradoxical view of the world of him. With an analysis of Frost's poetry, we find that the poet feels both love and anger towards the world. “Love” and “quarrel” are contradictory but also complementary. By reading the paradoxical view of the world in Frost, and understanding the unity of opposites in his poetry, we can learn about the world better, and learn to live better.
