This paper discusses integrated language approach used in teaching College English reading, and emphasizes that we should departure from the whole text, understand all kinds of language units and their supporting information in holistic text, and pay much attention to the relationship of each part of the text when we are reading English text. The concrete model of integrated whole language approach—predicting the general idea of the text, finding the meanings of topic sentences or topic paragraphs, extracting important words and their information, and deducing meanings of words and sentences of the context. Readers can grasp meanings of the text from multi-aspects quickly, and improve speed and quality of gaining information.
