英语教育在我国现代教育中的位置越来越重要,近几年更是取得了突飞猛进的发展.由此也产生了一些问题.每年六七千万人学英语,到底有多少人在用?在哪里用得多?哪里用得少?主要是以什么方式在用?这些问题是要靠用途调查来回答的.中国人教,中国人学,学了主要在中国用,这些条件会对英语本身产生了什么影响?这是要靠用法调查来回答的.围绕着这些问题,本文论述在我国开展英语用途和用法调查的必要性和方法.

English-language learning is occupying an ever-growing place in modern education in China. With the rapid development of EFLT in recent years many questions have come up. Since English is largely taught by Chinese teachers, learned by Chinese students and used mainly here in China, how is it affected and changed by local elements？ These questions can only be answered by a nationwide survey. This article presents the result and the methodology for such a survey.
