The moral values of a society are often discussed in literary works. This thesis analyses the protagonists＇ tragedy in their obeying or despising the traditional moral values against humanity in Tennessee Williamss＇s play A Streetcar Named Desire. Based on the analysis, the paper tries to show that Williams holds the view that a society should have enough sympathy and tolerance and it needs humane moral values.
