A Comparison of the Three Histories of the People’s Republic of China

有三部写中华人民共和国1949-1982年历史的中华人民共和国史。它们既有相同处,也有其相异处。都是同时代人写同时代的历史,都比较实事求是,都以史料说话,是其相同处;对重大事件的评价不同,体例和框架不同,对统计数字的引用多寡不同,是其相异处。吸取其优长,避免其缺失,以便今后写好新的中华人民共和国史,应是历史家的共同任务。

Of the three histories of the People＇s Republic of China（1949-1982）, there are similarities and differences. Written by the contemporaries, they are all true to facts, based on historical records. But they give different comments, their style and framework differ from each other and their statistical figures do not agree. Historians, in writing new histories of the People＇s Republic of China, should draw on their strong points and avoid their weaknesses.
