As the first university in Chinese modern history, Peiyang Uiversity had made the pioneering work of higher education and set up a model for many later universities. It had been pushing the country forward by cultivating a lot of experts. Also it had played an important rule in early cultural communication with the west by sending many students abroad for further study.
