“五窦”及其诗论略

“The Dou Brothers” and Their Poems

褚藏言选编《窦氏联珠集》为唐人兄弟同集之仅存者。“五窦”之诗为唐人家族文学的一个样板。他们的诗于题材上虽亦各有所长,但总体风格是相似的,艺术水平一般,缺乏开拓创新精神,是中唐诗坛大多数诗人的代表,七言绝句是他们写得最好的一种诗体。了解他们的诗歌创作,对认识中唐诗坛的总体风貌甚有裨益。

The Dou＇s Poems, complied by Chu Zangyan, is the only one survived that was written by the Dou＇s brothers. Their poems were a sample followed by family poets in the Tang Dynasty. Poems by these poems, though different in their subjects, are quite similar in their overall style and common in their artistic expressions. Qiyan Jueju （a poem of four lines, each containing of seven characters, with a strict tonal pattern and rhyme scheme） is the kind they are most adept at, but the lack of originality is represented by a majority of poets in this period. An understanding of their poetic creation, therefore, is conducive to understanding the general picture of the poetic circle in the middle of the Tang Dynasty.
