A Brief Comment on the Aesthetic Morphology of Frontier Poems in the Tang Dynasty

唐代边塞诗的阳刚之美使唐代诗歌光彩夺目,这种美学形态的存在固然与唐代独特的政治环境和精神风貌密不可分,但它的形成对前代也有个传承过程。由先秦至隋代,我国的边塞诗经历了由萌芽到发展的过程,无论是反映爱国主义精神、体现英雄风貌,还是渲染战斗声势、展示大漠风光,都洋溢着阳刚之美,为唐代边塞诗的美学形态——阳刚之美的形成创造了成熟的条件。

The virile beauty of Frontier Poems in the Tang Dynasty is dazzlingly brilliant. This aesthetic morphology, though closely tied up with the special political environment and spirit in the Tang Dynasty, inherited much of what came before that period of time. From the Pre-Qin Dynasty period to the Sui Dynasty, Frontier Poems went through a process of development. The virile beauty can be found in all those poems, be it reflecting patriotism and heroism, exaggerating fight impetus, and describing frontier scenery. These provide a mature foundation for the formation of the aesthetic morphology——virile beauty——of Frontier Poems in the Tang Dynasty.
