On Laoshe's Creations of Comic Dialogue

老舍的相声创作既有批评社会世俗的,也有歌颂社会新风的,显示出其强烈的正义感与敏锐的视角。他常常运用谐音、贯话、夸张等手法,更好地表现出相声的笑的艺术的特点。老舍拓展了新中国的相声艺术,为新中国的曲艺事业作出了十分重要的贡献。

Some of Laoshe＇ s comic dialogues satirize the common habits and customs, while others pay tributes to the new social fashions, demonstrating his strong sense of justice and acute judgments. He often employs homophonic words, exaggeration, and other techniques, in order to better display the characteristic of the comic dialogue as an “art of laughter”. In a word, Laoshe has expanded the comic dialogue art of New China and contributed greatly to Chinese folk arts.
