The condensation of methyl 3-aminorotonate with benzaldehyde and ethyl acetoacetate under microwave irradiation gave the corresponding 1,4-dihyciropyridine.The three by- products were also separated and identified by GC-MS.The condensation time was optimized by sampling the reaction mixrure at propor intervals and HPLC analyses.
