The electrochemical behaviour of bovine erythrocyte superoxide dismutase(BESOD)adsorbed On the mercury electrode surface was reported for the first time by cyclic voltammetry,direct current polarography and double potential-step chronoculoumetry without using mediator.The contribution of diffusion current predominated over adsorption current when the concentration of BESOD was more than 1.0×10 ̄(-4)mol/L. The experimental adsorption isothermal line was in accordance with that calculated by Langmuir equation. The equilibrium constant of adsorptin was 8. 96×10 ̄4 and Gibbs free energy was -28. 2kJ/mol.The molecular area(18. 06 nm ̄2)of BESOD obtained by the electrochemical method, is in good agreement with that(17. 36 nm ̄2)determined by X-ray crystal structural analysis.
