As the influence of the planned economy system and thinking, the concepts and contents of the course of mechanic design in colleges and universities are merely technical principle and methods. The author of the article thinks that under the condition of the market economy, this course should firstly establish the new thinking in design that will be in line with the demands of market regulation. The article also states that mechanic design should have new implication, new approach as well as new contents so as to meet the objective requirements in the development of the market economy.
