Students＇ drop out is a serious issue for American schools which has been perplexing the whole society for many years. Based on the description of the related concepts and current situation of dropout in America, the paper probes into the reasons for dropout frorm four aspects as follows：school factors,family factors,personal and social factors,and finally focuses on the discussion about dropout prevention strategies in America.
