北宋后期,文人的济世热情消退,遗世之情转笃,辞赋成为文人们深入探索人生问题的重要载体。当时的辞赋在平淡之中孕涵着深沉的忧患意识。但有的辞赋创作呈现出歌功颂德、润色鸿业的趋向,山川赋、都邑赋呈复兴之势。由于读书穷理和通经明古、经世致用观念的影响,北宋后期赋还凝聚了集大成而求变的创作意识。
