A Commentary Summary of Studies on the Completion Time of Er Ya and Its Author

本文对从古至今关于《尔雅》的成书时代和作者问题的各种论说进行了总结性研究和评述,分析了各种论说产生的原因,指出战国末期成书说以一定的事实作为依据,因而较为可信,但同时《尔雅》也有在秦朝初年成书的可能。

This paper is a summary of all the results of studies on the Completion Time of Er Ya （ Literary Expositor） and Its Author, and has analyzed all the causes for these different viewpoints, pointing out that one belief that it was completed at the end of the Warring States period is based on facts and is therefore reliable, while another alternative is also possible that it was completed in the early Qin Dynasty.
