LU You＇s political life is unfortunate. Born into a scholarly family Lu You spent his first nine years of his life as a refugee. He obtained the jinshi degree in 1153 and enjoyed a long official career, punctuated by several periods of exile. Moreover, his love life is tragic. The couple loved each other deeply but were forced to separate by Lu You＇s mother. Later, they encountered at the Shenyuan Garden, and soon Tang Wan died of a broken heart. Lu You was haunted by the tragedy and wrote many poems and verses to reminisce.
