古代典籍经过历代传抄改写流传至今,必然会有不少讹误之处。而地下出土的古文字材料保持了古时的原貌,没有经过后人的整理和窜改,可信度较高。用出土古文字材料来对传世古籍进行校读,可以解决许多古籍中的疑难问题。

There must be a lot of errors and inaccuracies in ancient classics after a long history of rewriting and passing down; however, the unearthed ancient writing materials are more trustworthy for they remain the original state as they are without being processed and changed by later generations. By comparing unearthed ancient writing materials and ancient classics and using the former as a reference to proofread the latter, we can solve many remaining knotty problems existing in ancient classics. The author cites some examples concerning the great function of ancient writing materials in interpretation of ancient classics and hopes it will attract attention from scholars to ancient writing materials.
