The paper formulated technical specifications and development of GAP device, which described the technical feature in all stages of development, and the present know-why and dominance of GAP device and some new function requirement for GAP device, and compared the main products in China. The paper described the power secondary system network security architecture scheme and the thought and characteristics of the scheme. On the scheme, the paper gave a model SCADA/EMS system, in which the GAP device had a typical application.
