Yu Da-fu's Criticism on the Wartime Japanese Culture

郁达夫于战时对日本文化进行了深刻的批判。郁达夫认为日本文化是对中国文化的“抄袭”,缺乏创造性。随着日本发动侵华战争步上军国主义的道路,其文化也走向倒退。作家堕落,作品内容趋于反动,文化生活十分空虚;尤其是对中国文化的侵略,使日本成为毁灭人类文化的敌人。然而中国文化有五千年历史,隋唐之时曾“开发倭夷”;将来“建设东亚新文化”,责任也还在“我们的肩上”。

Yu Da-fu made profound criticism on the wartime Japanese culture. He considered it as lack of creativity, copying Chinese culture. As Japan took the route of militarism, its culture began to retrogress： the writers degenerated; the content of the works became reactionary and the cultural life was hollow; especially its invasion on Chinese culture made it enemy of destroying human culture. Bus as China has a history of 5＇000 years and has “developed the lands of wo and yi” n the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the responsibility of “building new culture of East Asia” still “lays on our shoulders”.
