Building A Computer Corpus for College English Tests

计算机语料库是以语篇为基础对语言进行研究的一门新兴交叉型学科。20世纪90年代以来,应用不断更新的计算机技术建立的各类语料库,使语言研究的手段与方法都发生了巨大变化。但在开发以各类考试材料为语料的专门用途语料库方面,发展却相对滞后。大学英语四、六级考试是我国高等教育最重要的大规模外语考试,对推动大学外语教学起到了功不可没的作用。研究并建成大学英语四、六级考试计算机语料库,对大学外语教学具有很大意义。

Corpus Linguistics is a new transdiseiplinary field of language study based on the discourse. Nowadays various types of corpora built on ever - upgrading computer technology have made a great change on both research means and methods of language studies. However, the development of specific purpose corpora for language tests still lags behind. College English Band - 4 and Band - 6 are the most influential foreign language tests in the higher education of our country, and have played a positive role in college foreign language teaching and learning. This thesis gives a brief introduction to “A Computer Corpus for College English Band - 4 and Band - 6 Tests”, the mainstay project of Yunnan Province Education Administration, and emphasizes the implication the corpus will have on our college foreign language teaching and learning.
