十分流行的“哲学是时代精神的精华”一说实出于翻译上的一个错误。在新版的《马克思恩格斯全集》中,这句话被改译为哲学是“时代的精神上的精华”。然改译后的这句话仍不能成立,因为这句话只反映了青年马克思的思想,它同成熟时期马克思对哲学的见解是大相径庭的。

The statement, “Philosophy is the essence of the spirit of an age” is rather popular, but actually it originated from an error in translation. In the latest version of The Complete Works of Max and Angles, this statement is re - translated into “philosophy is spiritual essence of an age”. However, the revised version is still untenable, for it only reflects the thought of young Max and is entirely different from the mature Max＇s understanding of philosophy.
