This paper tries to analyze some important ideas of New Criticism, discussing the＇ enlightenment from ontology, tension irony, paradox, close reading and the integration of form and content. Then new intensive English teaching may be inspired and utilized for the sake of overcoming the shortcomings of out - of - date teaching methods.
