“弄堂”考

通过对壮语、瑶语、汉越语以及汉方言的语音分析,推断“弄”(表巷道)本是百越底层词。认为“弄”是“胡同”、“路”的合音等看法是不合理的。“堂”即“唐”,“唐”有道路义。

Through the phonetic analysis of Chuang language. Yao language, sino-vietnamese sound and Chinese dialects,we can duduce that “long” （means laneway） acturally is an understratum word in Baiyue zone. The viewpoint “long”is synaeresis of“hu-tong”or“lu-xiang” is not in reason. “堂”namely is“唐”,“唐” has the meaning of path.
