Social Significance of the Development of Botanical Garden

该文从马克思主义的社会与技术的相互关系出发,对植物园的创建、发展、趋势,以及它与社会的关系进行阐述。认为植物园的产生是社会发展的必然要求;在保护生物多样性、促进城市生态的可持续发展、促进社会经济的发展、普及文化知识提高民众素质等方面,植物园对社会做出了巨大的贡献;同时,社会决定了植物园将来的发展方向。文章以马克思主义观点科学地论述了植物园发展与社会的关系,对认识植物园及其发展方向有着重要意义。

The botanical garden is a special organization for collecting and cultivating plants from their native or outside habitat. It is very important for researching, protecting and exploiting plants. Based on the fundamental Marxist theory of the relations between society and technology, the paper discusses the initiation, development and future of the botanical garden, with the conclusion that the establishment of botanical garden is caused by the development of society. The botanical garden contributes to the society in many aspects such as protection of the biodiversity, promotion of urban ecologically sustainable development, acceleration of economic growth, popularization of culture and knowledge, and upgrade of the general quality of the public. Society decides the orientation of the development of future botanical garden. Such an understanding is of much value in scientifically studying botanical garden and its development orientation.
