Practices and Trend of Forest Policy For Fores Privatization in ex-Socialist Countries in Central and Eastern Europe

In 1990＇s, countries in Central and Eastern Europe initiated dramatic reforms in an effort to democratize their political systems and base their economics on free market principles. For the forest sector, these change meant the privatization of wood-processing industries and the return of private forests that had been nationalized to their former owners following World War Ⅱ . The general forest policy changes in these countries had influenced the development of private forestry. The purpose of this paper is to valuate the restitution process and forest policies applicable to private forests in order to assess their current situation and prospects for the future as well as to give Chinese researchers concerned a preference for the forestry policy reforms of non-public forestry development.
