Under the background of advanced manufacturing system, this paper focuses on the introduction of a number of such key advanced manufacturing technologies as CIMS, VM, AM, CE and GM. It also discusses the challenges brought to the cost leadership strategy and differentiation strategy by such technologies, and points out the traditionally separated two strategies could be merged to create significant competitiveness under the successful application of the advanced manufacturing technologies.
