On the Trend of Building "College Town"

在国家“科教兴国”战略、“知识创新”工程大背景之下,我国高校校园建设呈现出前所未有的热潮。通过回顾了国内外大学城发展的状况及目前实践中存在的误区,探讨了适应新世纪发展要求的大学城所具有的内涵特征:严谨求实的科研态度与一流的师资和学术环境;开放性与知识文化的共融性;宜人化、国际化的校园环境;大学城建设的实际意义。

The proposal of building a powerful country by science and education, and knowledge innovation creates an unprecedented trend of building “college town” among colleges and universities. This paper makes a review on the development of college towns at home and abroad, and the long-standing mistaken ideas. Also the characters college towns should possess in the new century are studied in this paper： realistic attitude and top- class faculties and academic environment, the opening and coexisting of knowledge and culture, and the pleasant and internationalized environment. The paper also discusses the practical meaning of building college towns.
