The paper summarizes the startup preparation and operation practice of large sized blast furnace in Baosteel. The author thinks that startup operation of large sized blast furnace is a complicated work involving a lot of trivial activities. However, rationally and orderly arrangement of equipment commissioning, hot blast stove baking and startup preparation of blast furnace based on the project construction schedule are conducive to realize successful startup of blast furnace as scheduled and can result in the best economic benefit. The startup operation experience of large sized blast furnace in Baosteel is a good reference to the similar blast furnaces in China.
