Afterthe end of WWII,Germany severely punished war criminals and made laws to prevent the revival of Nazism. Allprevious government leaders have again and again offered their apologies for the crimes committed in the war tothe victim countries,including Russia. In so doing,Germany obtained clemency from the international communi-ty. By taking history as a guide,facing reality and focusing on the future,and starting from the premise that Ger-many has been engaged in introspection of its history in earnest,Russia is trying to improve and strengthen Rus-so- German ties to bring benefits to both peoples and peace and stability of Europe as well.
