基因技术的发展使人们通过干预生殖过程来控制遗传疾病变得可能。这种做法可能给处于中国特定社会文化环境中的女性带来压力和不利。能否减轻女性的压力,改善不利的环境,关键不在于女性是否具备足够的自主能力,而在于技术运作的社会外部环境是否提供足够的资源,让她们有可能作出自主的选择。

The development of genetic technology makes it possible for human beings to control genetic diseases by intervening the reproductive process. However, this may also mean heavier burden and more disadvantages on the part of women. To address the issue, it is not enough to focus only on women＇s ability to exercise their own choice. More important is how the society seeks to provide enough resources for women＇s autonomous choice.
