Two Metaphors and Traditional Western Culture in Le Petit Prince

《小王子》采用童话形式,作者生于虔诚基督教家庭,作品中的大量隐喻,很大部分与西方传统文化有关联。文中“小王子”和“蛇”两个隐喻是神话意象,小王子是作者理想的化身,童贞、圣洁、真善美的象征。蛇是灵异者、神的助手的象征。这些象征意义与西方传统文化密不可分。

Born into a Christian family, the author used a lot of metaphors in his fairy tale Le Petit Prince. Some metaphors are inevitably related to traditional Western culture in one way or another. This paper expounds that the two metaphors, Le Petit Prince and the Snake, are mythological icons. It also analyses their symbolic meaning and the relationship between them and traditional Western culture.
