As a serious problem in American society, the gun ownership issue has become an unavoidable topic in American presidential election. The increasing seriousness of the gun issue is directly related to the political participation of interest groups. Starting form the lapse of FAWA and linking it with the political background of 2004 American presidential election, this thesis examines the campaigning strategies of the National Rifle Association (NRA) to find out how it has effectively influenced the 2004 presidential election, thus probing into the U.S. interest group politics as a whole.
