This paper deals with the debate on the traditional Chinese and western astronomies between Jiang Yong and Mei Juecheng,which are caused by Jiang Yong's(16821764) astronomical work Yimei(A Complement to Mei Wending's Work).The author lists the different points of view between Jiang Yong and Mei Wending(1633-1721),analyzes the debate between Jiang Yong and Mei Juecheng,a grandson of Mei Wending,and both the negative criticism of Qian Daxin(1728-1804),Ruan Yuan(1764-1849) and others.It comes to the conclusion that the key problem of the debate is mainly not academic but political,social,and personal.
