On Sushi's View on Ci

苏轼的词学观可分为前后两个时期,并且有所变化。前期,即通判杭州以前,他认为诗词有别,由于积极的参政意识,他把文学创作的主要精力放在了诗文创作上;后期,即通判杭州以后,他开始接触词体,并大量创作词作,在实践的过程中,提出了对词体的看法,认为诗词一体,开创豪放词风,提倡清丽雅致之词,形成了自己独具个性的词学观。

Sushi＇s view on ci can be divided into two different periods. Betore he took office m ttangzhou as local offcial, ne believed poetry and ci were different. Due to his awareness of active participation in politics, his chief energy of literary creation was spent on the composition of poems. Later, after he worked as local official in Hangzhou, he began to expose himself to ci and composed a great deal of ci. In practice, he put forward his own point of view on ci. He believed in the integration of poetry and ci and began to write in a bold and uninhabited style. He advocated fresh and elegant ci, thus forming his unique view of ci.
