论中国古代小说的审美类型

On Aesthetic Types of Ancient Chinese Novels

小说作为文学作品,其类型的划分应以其内在的关系为依据。具体地说,就是应以内容与形式、意义与形象等相互关系为分类依据。根据这一原则,本文将中国古代小说分为“象征型”、“象征·写实型”、“和谐型”、“写实·寓言型”及“寓言型”等五种类型,并在历史与逻辑相统一的前提下对每一类型小说的审美特征分别作出了概括性的分析和说明。

As works of literature, novels can be classified into different types according to their inner relations such as that between content and form, meaning and images, etc. This paper will classify the ancient Chinese novels into five types: the symbolic, the symbolic-realistic, the harmonious, the realistic, and the allegorical. It will accordingly analyze the aesthetic features of each type on the premise that history and logic must integrate into one.
