Utility and Emotion: A Description of the Psychology of the Art of Designing

设计艺术心理学是一门新学科。本文首先对设计艺术心理学进行了定义,分析了其主要研究对象和研究内容,提出设计艺术心理学研究包括两个重要的方面———使用和情感,并进行了相关分析;涉及了设计艺术中情感的特殊属性,认为其最大的特殊性在于它是具有功利性、目的性的情感,与可用性以及使用过程密不可分。在此基础上,进一步论述了可用性与情感之间的互为关系,认为用户在使用中所产生的情感可以分为感官、效能与理解三个层次。

The psychology of the art of designing is a new discipline. This paper first gives a definition of this new discipline, and then goes on to analyze its objects and content of study which includes two aspects: utility and emotion. The relevant analysis is involved with the special qualities of emotion in the art of designing of which the most particular is its utility and purposefulness, which in turn are closely connected with its usability and the process of usage. Understood in this way, the paper further develops a reciprocal relation between emotion and its usability, arguing that the emotion that is produced by the user in the process can be classified into three levels: the intuitive, the effective, and the understanding.
