通过对近年来关于竞技武术发展的几种有代表性的观点的分析可知:竞技武术套路随着其艺术难美化进程的加剧,“打练结合”已经成为历史,而淡化技击特点和文化特色绝非其发展的长久之计,“高、难、美、新、真”的提法也无以贴切反映其技术发展。技击特点是其最主要的技术特点,形神兼备是其最主要的文化特色,难美表现是其最主要的竞技特征,三者如何协调起来是其发展永恒的主题。
