Understanding New Relationship between the State, Market and Society?A Case Study of Linqing Incident on the Eve of the PRC's Founding

临清事件是建国前夕市场秩序混乱情况下的一次抢购涨价风潮,对于事件的揭露、批判和处理,深刻地反映出国家、市场、社会之间新型关系初建时的认识模糊。事件强调资本主义经济因素的危害性,突出政府部门和国营贸易机关对于社会生产、流通的领导作用,市场作用受到抑制,出现了通过行政干预急速发展国营与合作社经济的趋向。

Linqing Incident was an action of rush to purchase and rise in price of commercial goods on the eve of the PRC＇s birth. The improper measure adopted by the state to deal with it deeply reflected the twisted understanding of the CPC in the new relationship between the state, market and sociaty. After the Incident the government lay undue stress on perniciousness of capitalist sector of the economy, the leadership of social production and circulation by the government departments and state-operated commerce bodies. Market role was restrained. It marked a trend of history that rapidly expanded state-owned and cooperative economy through state intervention.
